This website is being been created for the benefit of readers of the Second Edition of Practical Gamma-Ray Spectrometry, and indeed anyone else with an interest in gamma-ray spectrometry.

It will carry links to most of the websites referred to in the book (in particular to nuclear data), test spectra (or links to them), some of the spreadsheets used to create the diagrams and data in the book.

There will inevitably be errors in the text so I have created a Corrections page. On that I will post up corrections/alterations as soon as I am aware of them and before they appear in any reprint.

I will be grateful if readers finding any errors, or other issues within the book, would report them to me via the Corrections Feedback page.

In the beginning was Edition 1, by Gilmore and Hemingway...

..then there was the Japanese translation.

This website relates to the Second Edition.

What happened to John Hemingway?

In the middle of September 2009, I attended GammaSem - the Nordic seminar on Gamma spectrometry - at IFE, Kjeller, Norway. I have created a pdf file containing my presentation, together with my speaker's notes, and am making that available for download. Click the link below.

For those who fancy a practical introduction to gamma-ray spectrometry, Level 1 of the Online Practical Gamma-Ray Spectrometry Course is available on this site (but without the tutor interaction that the full course offers).

Do you wonder whether your spectrum analysis system is finding your peaks reliably? Download SpecMaker, create a spectrum containing peaks of known area at known positions and see how it does!

Do you subscribe to the Radiochemical Mailing list? If not click here for details.
